">
OVERSIZED Sunglassses
One of the biggest trends we saw for 2011 sunglasses trends was oversized sunglasses. Oversized sunglasses are a style of retro sunglasses which originally became popular in the 1970s, overtaking the cat-eye sunglasses which were popular in the 1960s. Vintage designer sunglasses with oversized frames and bug-eye lenses remained popular in the 1980s and 1990s, particularly with celebrities. Celebrities who get swarmed by the media paparazzi typically don these oversized sunglasses so that they can slip by in crowds unnoticed. The lenses cover a very wide portion of the face and can help to conceal a celebrity’s identity. Even though that practical value isn’t really applicable to most of us, wearinglarge oversized sunglasses can provide the rest of us with an added benefit—the “star look.” Who are some of the celebrities who have been spotted wearing bug eye sunglasses? Bug-eye sunglasses are favorite styles of Paris Hilton, Victoria Beckham, Nicole Richie, and Cheryl Tweedy. They were also made famous by historical celebrities like Audrey Hepburn. Oversized sunglasses are popular for both men and women but are mainly a women’s sunglasses style.

Oversized glasses come in many different styles; some are oval shaped or circular, others are rectangular, and many are shaped in the bug-eye style. While the two terms are often used interchangeably, oversized indeed refers to a size, while bug-eye refers to a common shape of oversized glasses. There are other styles of oversized glasses as well including oversized wraparound sunglasses. Manufacturers of oversized designer sunglasses include Burberry, Soda Sunglasses, Oakley, Gucci, and Marc Jacobs, among others.

VINTAGE Sunglasses
These days, it isn’t just the new and modern which is fashionable, but also the retro fashions of yesteryear! Trendy people are shopping for rare vintage sunglasses and vintage inspired sunglasses. You don’t have to look for a vintage sunglasses shop just to buy vintage sunglasses, though, since this style is so popular that many mainstream sunglasses stores also sell vintage inspired sunglasses.

Aviator sunglasses, Ray-Ban wayfarer sunglasses, oversized bug-eye sunglasses and horn rim cat eye sunglasses are all examples of vintage styles which have made a comeback during the Aughts. These styles were fashionable in 2011 and will be even more so in 2012. We’ve been seeing a lot of celebrities wearing cat eye sunglasses recently including Zoe Saldana, Ke$ha, and January Jones. In particular, oversized sunglasses have become a top-selling sunglasses trend. Any of these looks for men or women can really give you a unique, old-school style which will set you apart from the crowd. Since vintage fashion trends made a comeback in the Aughts as well, vintage style sunglasses inspired by sunglasses from the 60s, 70s and 80s can really stand out as accessories paired with vintage clothing.

Psychology of Sunglasses

http://www.sodasunglasses.com/1/post/2012/03/psychology-of-sunglasses.html

http://www.sodasunglasses.com/1/post/2012/03/psychology-of-sunglasses.html#comments

Uncategorized

Paris Hilton f [...]

<span style=' float: left; text-align: center;">Paris Hilton favors oversized sunglasses.

What do your sunglasses say about you? A lot more than you might think. Whether you're a bogan, fashionista, metro, Louis Vuitton bag toting woman, triathlete or wanna-be, you will be given away by your choice of eye-wear.

The bogan wears black, usually Dirty Dog, wrap-around sunnies. They're often of square shape and have a somewhat intimidating feel about them. There's no way of seeing a bogan's eyes through these pitch black lenses, but if he is talking with a woman you can guarantee his pupils are aimed at her clevage. Men who don these glasses can be spotted in black jeans and rock band (like Iron Maiden) t-shirts, drinking woodstock bourbon and cola and driving 80s Fords or Holdens.

The classic Ray Ban (wayfarer) look is the style of choice for tight jean wearing dudes and chicks called fashionistas. Such individuals wouldn't be caught dead in any other style and would rather have their eyes fried by the sun than wear bogan or metro shades even on the brightest, most glarey, day of the year. There are varying levels of fashionista too. Those in the higher echelon would never think about wearing imitations from the service station or pharmacy and upgrade from Ray Ban to some other high fashion brand in order to make them feel superior. But to achieve the highest fashionista status one must change from all black glasses to ones with a wire rim and turtle-shell frame.

I use the term metro loosely because some would argue fashionistas and metros are one and the same; although anyone in the fashionista category would denounce someone calling them that. Metros are men who wear Dolce and Gabbana, Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent branded glasses. These sunnies are worn by men with t-shirts that are too small, but bought small on purpose to enhance the size of their muscles. Often it is the dress code of new-age footy heads or male hair dressers who wear alligator shoes, ripped Diesel jeans and Ed Hardy t-shirts. These men, although loved by girls, spend more time moisturising and styling their hair than their woman do. Who are these men accompanied by? Louis Vuitton bag toting woman. After all, to have a woman with a small dog in her purse is the ultimate accessory and demands respect.

These girls wear, what I call, face-savers. They are worn by dog-in-bag kinda girls like Pairs Hilton who are over accessorised as it is, but must have sunglasses on for fear of public ridicule if they don't. Worn inside and out, night and day the bag totter never takes her glasses off. She is summed up perfectly in the song by Mike Posner titled Cooler than me. ''You got designers shades just to hide your face and you wear them around like you're cooler than me.'' The wanna-be is somewhere in the middle or all the above groups. Not edgy enough for Ray Ban or muscley enough for metro glasses the wana-be wears aviators or some other pair of cheap novelty glasses. They looked cool being worn by Tom Cruise in Top Gun, but these days their coolness is being degraded. Why? Because they're on the face of guys who wear outrageous costumes to Twenty20 cricket matches.People of all descriptions walk the street wearing sunglasses over summer. Next time you're out and about, have fun categorising.

Do you buy girls eyewear or sun glasses year round?

http://www.sodasunglasses.com/1/post/2011/10/do-you-buy-sun-glasses-year-round.html

http://www.sodasunglasses.com/1/post/2011/10/do-you-buy-sun-glasses-year-round.html#comments

Uncategorized

With summer coming to a close and back to school upon us, many might think it will soon be time to stuff those flip flops back in the closet and tuck away the sunglasses until the sun returns next spring. But don't be so hasty. There are benefits to wearing those stylish shades all year round.

In some climates, it can be obvious that girls eyewear are needed all year round, especially in southern regions of the United States where it stays warm most of the year, but what about the northern half of the country? Do we need to buy sun glasses too? The answer is yes, we do. Our earth is tilted on an axis as it makes its way around our sun and the resulting oblong orbit is what give us seasons. While during the cooler seasons, it seems there is less sun and less UVB rays there really are plenty. During the fall, winter and spring months, even when there is cloud cover, plenty of UVB rays still make it through. They can even be concentrated or reflected by the clouds intensifying the effect. Winter can be especially hazardous to our delicate eyes when there is snow on the ground. Snow makes the perfect reflector for UVB rays and at higher elevations we are even closer to the sun and bombarded with even more of its rays.

The cooler seasons of the year may call for a change in sunglass style. Something a little harder wearing, perhaps, to repel the wind and rain. When you buy sun glasses, ones with a lighter tint, but with all the UVB protection is also a good choice to make seeing in lower light easier. Blend in a little modern edge and chic, and you're going to like what you see.

We're talking bold square frames, round shapes, creamy neutrals and pearly finishes, cat-eye styles, metal frames, rimless and semi-rimless looks and rebellious blacks.

If you watched the Golden Globe Awards, you saw Annette Bening, Robert Downey Jr. and Tim Allen in bold black glasses.

The selection has never been so varied, said Dave Trent, owner of an eyewear boutique. According to Trent, one trend that's getting plenty of attention is a more vertical style. It's deeper, not so rectangular. From the eyebrows to the cheeks, it has a little more depth. It's not as long and thin across the eyes, he said.

Round shapes, both small and bigger styles, rolled into the picture recently, and now they're center stage. "I've probably sold more round stuff in the last eight months than the last eight years," Trent said. "It's very, very popular now."

And let's not forget retro cat-eyes in extreme or relaxed teardrop styles.

While daring pattern is being talked up this year, Trent said his customers tend to opt for neutrals, tortoise, shades of brown, black and maybe a subtle pattern.

"When they want something to last three or four years, they're not afraid to do something out there fashion-wise, but they want to keep it fairly neutral."

Terry Furrh of Eyes Ltd. said response has been good as people reach for frames with a nod to the past. With such a presence at the Golden Globe Awards, those larger, bold frames may get snapped up even faster.

"It's ironic because most of those styles were medium to large," he said. "People come in and say 'I don't want to wear those big ones; I want to stay with small.'" But then those same customers leave with larger glasses, he said.

Those big, black plastic frames that made the rounds at the Globes are retro yet edgy, Furrh said. So are modified cat-eyes with a sprinkling of crystals. They're poised to make even more of a statement this year. One detail that smacks of yesteryear is the shield or tiny accent on the front of many plastic frames.

One more thing about celebrities' glasses. If you ever wondered what you would look like in Johnny Depp or Tina Fey specs, you can recreate their look -- or design your own -- with DesignYourOwnEyewear.com.

While certain styles do look better on some facial shapes, those in the eyewear business say as long as there's symmetry to the face, you can wear almost any style as long as it fits properly.

And for most people, eyewear must be comfortable. Titanium or lightweight plastic frames and thinner lenses make that happen.

--

Stolen Sunglasses May Be Worth $1M

http://www.sodasunglasses.com/1/post/2011/01/stolen-sunglasses-may-be-worth-1m.html

http://www.sodasunglasses.com/1/post/2011/01/stolen-sunglasses-may-be-worth-1m.html#comments

Uncategorized

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. --Burglars stole hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of sunglasses from Daytona Beach company Costa Del Mar, police said. They said the burglars disabled alarms, door key pads, telephones and security cameras.

The president of the local sunglass company, which is the nation's fourth largest sport sunglass manufacturer, spoke off-camera with WESH 2's Claire Metz about the theft.

The company president said his staff of 125 kept business as usual Tuesday, producing the company's big-selling shades. Costa Del Mar sunglasses range in price from $130 to $300.

The burglars may have used a semi tractor-trailer to move the valuable merchandise, police said. The burglars took off with 12 pallets worth of sunglasses.

The stolen merchandise is estimated to cost between $500,000 and $1 million, according to investigators.

The folks at Costa Del Mar are still trying to tally the total loss, but say the stolen sunglasses were specifically for Cabela's Sporting Goods. Police can only speculate where the shady suspects will unload the merchandise.

Police told WESH 2 that another high-end sunglass manufacturer, a competitor of Costa Del Mar in New York, had a similar burglary two weeks ago and lost much of its inventory. With these on, you can see everything clearly but no one is privy to what is going on in your mind because your eyes are well hidden. That’s why mirrored lens sunglasses were ever very popular as girls eyewear or with police officers in the US. This earned them the popular nickname ‘cop shades’. The cherry on the cake is the way these shades make you look – cool, mysterious and totally in control! Mirrored lens sun glasses have been going in and out of fashion, do you own sun glasses like these?.

Well, how such kind of sun glasses a mirrored effect? There are several types of thickening elements: gold, silver or even copper metallic mirror glaze applied coatings on the surface of a fully smoke tinted lens. When finished, these lenses can offer you greater UV protection compared to ordinary lens with ordinary tint. This is the process by which manufacturers produce mirrored lens sunglasses. International pilots in their mirrored lens aviator sunglasses were featured in many international fashion magazines that resulted in the aviator mirrored lens sun glasses becoming the earliest style of eye wear in fashion.Morever, mirrors have been making their presence felt on sunglasses for quite some time now. Although mirrored lens sunglasses are rather expensive when compared to ordinary sunglasses, they can be depended upon to greatly reduce the glare from sun at higher elevation. Pilots flying at higher altitudes would usually use mirrored lens sun glasses as protection from the intense glare of the sun. In fact, this is one of the ways in which these sunshades became so popular. Mirrored sunglasses have a remarkable glare reduction capacity of 10 to 60 per cent when compared to ordinary sun glasses. These sun glasses also come in a variety of colors. The yellow and blue tints enhance visibility. She is a veritable fashion chameleon. You simply never know what this singer will show up in next. Whether it is a bubble wrap dress or an outfit made of feathers, the world is always waiting on pins and needles to see what sort of creation Lady will be wearing each time she steps out in public. One of the ways that the singer shows her unique sense of style is through her innovative accessorizing. In particular, Lady Gaga sunglasses become pieces of art when paired with her creatively put together outfits. Seeing the potential for her chosen pairs of eyewear, many people are now interested in buying styles from her favorite brands in order to get the same look that so many go gaga over! Rarely seen without a pair of eyewear, Gaga has also been spotted in a number of styles from the fashion power-house Bvlgari. Of course, the eyewear she chooses from this popular company always comes in a unique shape to complement her quirky style. However, what is probably her most notable pair to date are the white-rimmed Carrera sunglasses she wore for her “Bad Romance” video. This highly-recognized pair is a classic aviator style, but with a twist. Summing up the style of Lady Gaga sunglasses is virtually impossible, as her looks are always as unique as the rock star herself.

Lady GaGa in Versace
